FREE
workshop for teachers! Come
have dinner and listen to Mitch Holthus, voice of the Kansas City Chiefs, among
other guests. This workshop will apply basic economic principles to the
analysis of professional and amateur sports. It is set in a two-day with guest
speakers and hopefully a field trip or two. This workshop is
currently limited to social studies, business, gifted teachers and
administrators in grades 6-12. Each school
represented will receive a free copy of the Virtual Economics interactive CD-ROM,a
$100 value. The Virtual Economics®:
CD-ROM is an interactive tool that helps you understand the most important
concepts in economics and personal finance and find the right lessons to teach
them at your grade level. The CD-ROM allows you to search a database of over
1,200 lessons by grade level, concept, Voluntary National Content Standard in
Economics or your state economic standards. Then view and print the
lessons you want. The CD-ROM also contains multimedia explanations for 51 key
economic concepts and a glossary with over 500 economics terms and definitions. Day 2: The workshop is designed to enhance the understanding and teaching of economics for middle and high school social studies, business or gifted teachers and administrators given priority. As a certified teacher currently under contract you also have the option of receiving one graduate credit for a total cost of $100 from the University (ESU, FHSU, KU, KSU, PSU or WSU) of your choice thanks to the KCEE partial scholarship. There is a strong sports theme so make sure you are interested in sports!

There is no cost and meals are provided Teachers will also receive lots of FREE materials. This workshop requires a $25 refundable deposit (if time permits) that will be returned to you at the end of the workshop as long as you attend all sessions. It is just to hold your space.
