DESCRIPTION:The Kansas Council for Economic Education\, in partnership with the Center for Economic Education at Wichita State University is pleased to again offer our annual workshops at Wichita State University. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFinancial Fitness Extravaganza – June 17 & 18 \n\n\n\nTopics to be covered include: \n\n\n\n\nAvoiding Scams\n\n\n\nEntrepreneurship\n\n\n\nSaving for College\n\n\n\nBuilding your credit history\n\n\n\nSafe Investing\n\n\n\nInsurance for Teens\n\n\n\nThe Business & Economics of Sustainability\n\n\n\n\nEconomic Perspectives in U.S. History\, Civics & Government – June 18 & 19 \n\n\n\nTopics to be covered include: \n\n\n\n\nStandards of living\n\n\n\nEconomic institutions\n\n\n\nReasons for trade\n\n\n\nTrade barriers\n\n\n\nExchange rate determination\n\n\n\nImpact of trade – globally\, nationally\, per state / region\n\n\n\nTrade alliances\n\n\n\nThe role of Kansas in the global economy\n\n\n\nHow railroads shaped the Kansas economy\n\n\n\n\nDay two of the Economic Perspectives workshop will be provided by Don Fell and the Foundation for Teaching Economics. Participants on June 19 who attend the entire day’s training and complete the course evaluation will be eligible for a $100 stipend. Attendance is limited to 30 teachers. \n\n\n\nThis year\, the sessions will run back-to-back so that we can offer 2 workshops in 3 days! Teachers can sign up for one or both workshops. \n\n\n\nThese workshops offer: \n\n\n\n\nGraduate Credit from Wichita State for those who qualify.\n\n\n\nHousing on campus at Wichita State (must RSVP by June 10)\n\n\n\nMeals (breakfast/lunch) and snacks\n\n\n\nHands-on\, standards-based lesson plans and supplemental materials\n\n\n\n\nYour $10 registration fee will be refunded in full on-site upon completion of the workshop(s) you attend. Graduate credit is available from WSU with scholarships for the full price of tuition available for those who qualify on a first-come\, first-served basis. These are available for certified Kansas teachers who teach economics\, social studies\, personal finance\, or related topics.

DESCRIPTION:Join the Foundation for Economic Education\, the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City and the Kansas Council for Economic Education to learn about AI’s potential for today’s educator. Participants will be gain exposure to and practice with a wide range of AI applications tailored for classroom instruction. Attendees will discover innovative AI-driven teaching methods that promote student learning\, and will be guided through hands-on activities to familiarize themselves with these cutting-edge tools.  \n\n\n\nAttendees of this free event will receive a $100 Amazon gift card for participation in this workshop.  \n\n\n\nGraduate credit through Wichita State University will be available for those who are interested.

SUMMARY:Fundamentals of Environmental Economics Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Offered by the Foundation for Teaching Economics and the American Institute for Economic Research (AIER) in partnership with the Kansas Council for Economic Education and Wichita State University Center for Economic Education \n\n\n\nWho: High school\, middle school\, and upper elementary teachers and curriculum specialists. No prior economics is required. \n\n\n\nWhat: A one-day program designed to help educators gain an understanding of environmental economic issues and concepts and related methodologies to engage students in group-structured classroom learning activities. \n\n\n\nSpecifics: Tuesday\, September 26 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. \n\n\n\nMarcus Welcome Center\, Wichita State University \n\n\n\n(Continental breakfast\, breaks and lunch provided.) \n\n\n\nDress: Business casual. \n\n\n\nRequired: Participants must complete this registration form prior to September 14. \n\n\n\nStipend: A $200 stipend will be provided to all participants who complete the program. \n\n\n\nNotes: A maximum of 30 teachers will be accepted on a first-come and qualified basis. \n\n\n\n(Participants must be full-time educators during the 2023-2023 school year. No substitute teachers may register.) \n\n\n\nParticipants may (optionally) take the program for one graduate hour credit in economics from Wichita State University. (Assignment required.) \n\n\n\n——————————————- \n\n\n\nThe Fundamentals of Environmental Economics program uses a non-biased approach designed to provide teachers with a dynamic way to incorporate environmental economics concepts into their classroom.
