Get access to plug-and-play lessons that will transform game-day information into rigorous learning experiences for your students. We will explore curricula tied to markets\, incentives\, and decisions shaping the sports industry\, as well as public financing of arenas and trade-offs for taxpayers and franchise owners. Focus on America 250 & Personal Finance \n\n\n\nThe Kansas Council for Economic Education\, in partnership with the Center for Economic Education at Wichita State University and the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City\, is pleased to again offer our annual workshops at Wichita State University. \n\n\n\nThis workshop will explore both financial literacy and social studies concepts\, each spanning 1.5 days of instruction. First\, experience America 250 professional learning focused on the civic and economic foundations of American democracy. Using high-quality\, inquiry-based resources\, teachers will examine civic responsibility\, the role of government\, and how economic decision-making shapes communities and public policy. Participants will leave with classroom-ready lessons and activities aligned to standards that help students connect America’s past\, present\, and future. \n\n\n\nThis workshop will explore both financial literacy and social studies concepts\, each spanning 1.5 days of instruction. First\, discover how to equip students with essential money management skills through engaging hands-on activities and real-world examples. Also\, learn ways financial literacy can impact students’ future choices\, career paths\, and long-term goals. Then\, experience America 250 professional learning focused on the civic and economic foundations of American democracy. Using high-quality\, inquiry-based resources\, teachers will examine civic responsibility\, the role of government\, and how economic decision-making shapes communities and public policy. Participants will leave with classroom-ready lessons and activities aligned to standards that help students connect America’s past\, present\, and future. \n\n\n\nThis year\, the sessions will run back-to-back so that we can offer 2 workshops in 3 days! Teachers can sign up for one or both workshops. \n\n\n\nThese workshops offer: \n\n\n\n\nGraduate Credit from Wichita State for those who qualify.\n\n\n\nHousing on campus at Wichita State (must RSVP by June 6)\n\n\n\nMeals (breakfast/lunch) and snacks\n\n\n\nHands-on\, standards-based lesson plans and supplemental materials\n\n\n\n\nYour $20 registration fee will be refunded in full on-site upon completion of the workshop(s) you attend. Graduate credit is available from WSU with scholarships for the full price of tuition available for those who qualify on a first-come\, first-served basis. These are available for certified Kansas teachers who teach economics\, social studies\, personal finance\, or related topics.

Learn how to sequence relevant topics seamlessly and integrate student-driven examples. Explore new resources that address vital concepts such as budgeting\, saving\, credit\, investing\, financial decision-making\, risk management\, and financial planning\, as well as digital banking and payments. Enhance your teaching toolkit and inspire your students with the know-how to establish financial capability today and beyond. \n\n\n\nThese workshops offer: \n\n\n\n\n2 hours of Graduate Credit from Fort Hays State or Wichita State for those who qualify\n\n\n\nMeals (breakfast/lunch) and snacks\n\n\n\nHands-on\, standards-based lesson plans and supplemental materials\n\n\n\nTurnkey one semester financial literacy courses\n\n\n\nAnd more\n\n\n\n\nDaily Schedule: \n\n\n\nThe workshop begins at 8:30 a.m. on Monday\, June 22 with registration and breakfast. Start times for Tuesday\, June 23 and Wednesday\, June 24 are at 8:00 a.m. Activities for each day are scheduled to conclude at 4:30 p.m. \n\n\n\nYour $20 Registration Fee will be refunded to you at the completion of the workshop. Refunds are available for those who cancel one week prior to the start of the workshop. \n\n\n\nGraduate credit is available from WSU and FHSU with scholarships for the full price of tuition available for those who qualify on a first-come\, first-served basis. These are available for certified Kansas teachers who are or will be teaching a personal finance course or related course. \n\n\n\nInformation about registering for credit will be provided in person at the workshop.
